We have been through best watches of Casio a lot of times but ever wondered why are they so popular and within reach of the masses? If no then let me take you to the trip down that history lane when watches were like pink diamonds only a rare few people had owned them. It was the time when only a few countries were making watches. At that time industry was not that advanced and humankind did not achieve much then.
Back in the 1600s clockmakers from Europe especially from Switzerland began experimenting and making small-sized more portable spring-driven clocks that eventually went from pocket watches to wristwatches. They were easy to carry and were a symbol of statement as well but they were Hella expensive so they were not with the reach of the laymen.

It was only in the 19th century after the industrial revolution when lots of watchmakers went on to mass-produce timepieces, mainly pocket watches, which became popular but still, they were expensive and heavy. The need for a wristwatch was obvious and it was mass-produced and sold after its importance was realized post-WWI where soldiers used them to time their movements on the battlefield.

In 1969 Seiko had developed a quartz watch called Seiko 35 SQ Astron and it was on sale from December 25, 1969. Astron was the mother of today’s quartz watches and was the most accurate quartz watch to date. It was sold for 1200 USD which by the sound of it is still a large number for a wristwatch.
After making a name in electronic calculators Casio watches quickly became a huge hit after their first Casio Tron was released in 1974. It was their expertise in the manufacturing of calculators and successful marketing that made three brothers Casio business a household name worldwide. Casio was one of the five major brands that won the calculator wars of the 1970s. The race was on and Texas Instruments, Hewlett-Packard, Sharp, Canon, and Casio reduced the calculator from a behemoth of a desktop machine to a pocket-sized calculator.
